Call for Papers for the journal Ecología Política, issue 58

The journal Ecología Política invites authors to send their article proposals for its next issue, number 58.

The main subject of the issue will be Peak or crisis of environmentalism? where we want to reflect and encourage the existing debate between different environmental cultures and sensitivities in this historical period of environmental and climate crisis. While traditional forms of organization and environmental activism endure, however seem to be declining, new forms emerge with extraordinary power. In this context, it seems worth to ponder, which forms of environmentalism are rising and which are declining and why. Specifically, this issue is looking for articles on:

Height of new social movements related to environmental activism as a response to the climate crisis.

Eco-feminism as a new form of social and political environmentalism. Feminism´s role in environmental activism. The relationship between feminism, environmentalism and animal activism.

Political agroecology understood as a social environmentalist movement linked to the South and to local communities. The new agroecologist populism as a strategy for the politicization of food production and consumption. The link between agroecology and health.

The new conceptual and political challenges of ecological economics in this period of economic globalization. The return of the commons against the market efficiency, the expropriation of common knowledge in the global neoliberal system, technocratic adaptation strategies against radical alternatives to the extractivism, degrowth and its compatibility with the current democratic systems.

Countermovements: conservative populism, environmental racism, climate crisis denialism.

The issue will be published in December 2019.

The submission of articles will take place in two steps.

Article proposal submission (250 words max.). Deadline: 09 September 2019.

Once received, the proposals will be evaluated by experts in the subject and by the issue’s guest editors. The authors whose proposals are selected will be invited to send a complete manuscript. The invitation to submit the full manuscript does not ensure its publication, as manuscripts will then undergo a further review process.

Submission of the final version of the article (to be translated from English to Spanish, if necessary): 08 November 2019.

Both the abstracts and the final versions of the articles have to be sent to the following e-mail address:
