Ecología Política, cuadernos de debate internacional is looking for articles for the next issue (nº 53), on Climate change and the ‘anthropocene’. The issue welcomes theoretical as well as empirical contributions, including on (but not limited to) the following key themes:

  • critiques of the concept of the ‘anthropocene’
  • climate justice, ecological debt and climate imperialism
  • political economy and biopolitics of ‘adaptation’
  • critiques of green capitalism
  • resistance and alternatives

The issue will be published in June 2017.



The submission of articles will be realized in two steps.

  1. Abstract submission (250 words max.). Deadline: 1st of February, 2017.

Once submitted, the abstracts will be reviewed by guest editors as well as by members of the editorial board. The authors whose abstracts are selected will be invited to send their complete manuscript. Invitation to submit the full manuscript does not ensure its publication, as manuscripts will then undergo a peer-review process.

  1. Submission of the final version of the article (to be translated from English to Spanish, if necessary): 30th of March, 2017.

The types of articles published in the journal must fit into one of the following sections:

Section Description of the articles Word-limit (including bibliography and notes)
In-depth Detailed analysis of one of the main topics, from a broad perspective. It should have a theoretical component and/or a global focus. 4000 words

(approx. 8 pages)

Short With a regional or local focus and normally centred on a specific case study. 2000 words

(approx. 4 pages)

Opinion A personal and critical vision of the subject matter. 2000 words

(approx. 4 pages)

Resistance networks Address local or community resistance to socio-environmental impacts. 1500 words

(approx. 3 pages)

Key environmental figures Analysis of the work and contributions of a reference thinker in relation to the special issue of each number. 3000 words

(approx. 6 pages)

Review of books, webpages and reports Critique of a recent key publication (book, film, or other media) related to the issue’s topic. 1000 words

(approx. 1-2 pages)

Ecología Política, cuadernos de debate internacional is a semi-annual journal published in Spanish that addresses environmental questions and their link to society. It has a history older than 25 years, during which it has been distributed mainly in Spain and Latin America. ( It targets both academics and environmental/social organisations.
