Ecología Política is an international semi-annual journal which reflects current debates on various ecological topics, with a special emphasis on socio-environmental conflicts, inequalities in access to commons, and social movements, etc.
Since its creation in 1991, the journal has been directed by Dr. Joan Martínez-Alier, a professor of the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Since then, it has become a benchmark for activists and academics working on political ecology, especially in Spain and Latin America. There is no other international journal on ecological issues with a similar global outreach, which is edited in Spain and addresses such a wide audience from different backgrounds.
In 2006, keeping the same editorial policy, the journal reinforced its team of coordinators with the incorporation of Dr. Ignasi Puig Ventosa, Dr. Anna Monjo, and Dr. Miquel Ortega Cerdà; also renewing its editorial board. Furthermore, the same year, ENT took over the editorial secretariat of the journal.
Since then, Ecología Política has kept growing at the national and the international levels, both through its paper version –mainly thanks to an expansion of the subscribers–; and through the creation of a webpage and a digital version.
